Harley was the only male in Daisy's litter. The father was Ch Highflite Briarcrest Extra Man, (a very famous stud dog in Texas, better known as Butch.) We named him Harlequin because of the diamond shaped white patches on his back. Since he was almost all black he always looked like he was dressed for dinner.
Harley was a very dignified dog - he got a CD (obedience title) with no trouble, and trained for Open (next step up). However the open exercises require the dog to jump over a jump carrying a dumbbell in his mouth - I think Harley felt this was un-dignified so he refused to do it in public.
Harley's sister, Una, looked almost exactly like him. We campaigned the two of them in brace obedience for several years. They made such a striking pair that people still remember them.
