Some Summer Photos |
| Big surprise on Saturday June 24. We spotted this orange thing in a tree, closer examination revealed a hanging box. It turns out that Space Data Corporation uses these to gather telemetry from remote oil industry installations. We called the number on the box and had a nice chat with a gentleman involved with the project. This particular one was released in Natchez yesterday and spent some time in the stratosphere (80,000 ft) where the winds are out of the east at this time of year. When it drifted as far west as Lake Georgetown, he commanded it to drop about 2 hours before we found it! Jack thought this was very curious excitement over something that does not smell of food. |

Here is the pond in late June with the dwarf papyrus, dwarf cattails, lotus and lilys growing like crazy. Still no lotus blooms but we have hopes. |
